God's Answered Prayer

Luke, my man-boy, has really gotten into reading his "God's Mighty Warrior Devotional Bible" each night.  He is even keeping a checklist in his journal of which books he has read so far:

(sorry Jenny.....he just crossed your name out last week and told me it was for people who lived in his house and you do not anymore.  You know he loves you :)

So Luke received this devotional last Easter and was intrigued by the empty pages in the back to record "Prayer Requests" and "Answered Prayers".

Here was his Prayer Request list in mid-2009:

Just last week, he remembered this and went and added his "Answered Prayer":

Dan has been home for a couple weeks due to hernia surgery and will not go back to work until Dec. 1st.  Wow.  God you are so good!

God I pray that Luke's memory of your answered prayers stays strong throughout his life's trials and celebrations.  And thank you for talking to us through your precious children.  A big giant AMEN to that!!!

Press the easy button....

I just set this up in less than 5 minutes.   I'm continuing "Project Simplification" by creating this posterous blog.   So far, I'm likin' it.  Here's what it can do

  • capture the nearly depricated mercermemories.blogspot.com posts and pull them back into one place
  • be a blog that I can easily turn into a book to preserve memories more "permanently" (thank you blurb.com!)
  • auto post to other blogs, to facebook, etc.....now I only need to go one place!
  • create a post from an email, text message, etc AND automatically bring over and manage the images for me
  • and best of all....this does about 100 things I thought I'd have to do myself for one of my web design clients.  yee-haw!

Can't wait to play around with the design.   As Kramer would say, "Giddy-up"

Mae-Mae's Signs and Words

From the top of my head, here is how Macie is communicating with us at 25 months:
  • "Ha" (means Hi for anyone)
  • "Ba" (means Bye....she's got quite the southern drawl!)
  • "Mee-mee" means "May-may" her nickname
  • "Sheshus" - Jesus (along with the sign and the Jesus loves me song signed to her every night before bed)
  • "Peeeeeez" along with the sign for please
  • Thank you....signed only, no words
  • (panting) and hitting the side of her leg for "dog"
  • "Ma Ma"....finally meaning it for real along with the sign. Originally, this was her word for EVERYTHING!
  • "Big"....she said it for the first time today in music therapy during a song with BIG movements!!!!
  • "teee" for train....along with the sign
  • "paaaay" for plane....along with the sign
  • "cah cah" for car....her absolute favorite...along with the sign
  • "cah cah bye bye" her first 2 word phrase spoken in desperation when she wants to leave somewhere
  • the "hmmm" part of "mmmm hmmmm" is her YES
  • "Ya Ya" or "Wa Wa" for Maya
  • "oooooo" for Luke
  • "aaak" for Jack
  • "ick" with the sign for dirty
  • "keeeeen" with the sign for clean
  • "eeeeeeeee" with the sign for eat
  • "eeeen" sometimes "deen" with the sign for drink
  • "pull-pull" with the sign for apple
  • "kee-kee" with the sign for candy
  • a very german-throaty like "crach crach" for cracker or quack
  • "baw" for ball with the roundest "o" lips you've ever seen!
  • "Paw Paw", of course, her first word for nearly everything (thank you Maw Maw!)
......a few more of course but most importantly, the most expressive face and eyes that tell us how happy and loving she is.

A great brain question

Again, from our thinker, Luke, with complete seriousness:

"If you put your eyes up so you can only see the white parts, can you see your brain?"

And a great answer from a great soccer-mom friend of 3 boys, Kirsten:

"No you cannot because there are no lights in there and it is dark."

Too cute.

A Rule from Luke

Luke, age 4, says to Daddy:

"Dad, sometimes when mommy is around you call her Lori. Her name is only "M", "O", "M". That's what you must call her."

A little insight into how Luke keeps order in his life.

Don't Blink!

The other day, Luke was playing a game on the computer and came upstairs rubbing his eyes saying they hurt. Daddy told him that sometimes that happens when you look at the computer for a long time but you can blink. Luke didn't miss a beat when he responded, "Well I don't!"

It's no surprise that our little intense one did not want to miss a thing and thought he couldn't blink when working on the computer.

My Grandma, Florence Delilah Fishpaw, died this past week at the age of 97. She lived by herself until only a couple years ago and she was bedridden only the last few days. Her mind was with her until nearly the very end. We are blessed to have had her in our lives for so long and blessed to know her tired body is now new and restored in eternal life with our savior Jesus.
