the great helpful haircutting incident

day 1 without a nanny, all i wanted to do was put away groceries after a long shopping trip with 3 little ones and luke comes downstairs with a giant smile to proudly announce that 'now i can see! maya fixed it for me!'

Front Seat Of Truck

We've had some great memories while screaming down the road sitting on the bench seat of "papa's truck" that Daddy has owned for over two years. Last night coming home from church small group Luke was amazed at all you can see from the front seat versus being in the car seat of a lower riding minivan in the back. He and Maya went on and on about all the spectacles of the road. They have both ridden in the truck with me before but I'm nearly certain this was the first time after dark. Luke spotted a semi ahead of us with the marker lights and reflective tape and was instantly taken back to his memories of the movie "cars". He yelled "there's a truck like Mack, Mack wait up!!!" He and Maya remained transfixed on the truck until we were well past it.
They both ooed and ahhhed about being "above the freeway" after we had exited up a ramp and back acrossed I-270. "look how high up we are".

Today Jack and I got to share some quiet time together in the truck as we rumbled over to Reynoldsburg in rush hour traffic to be at a soccer game at 6:00. I know Jack enjoys the time minus brothers and sisters, and we get a chance to talk about school and sports and cool guy stuff. The ride home was great as we gorged on McD's and got warmed up after being in the 40 something weather for the duration of the game. The sun was bright and I'll always remember Jack hammering down two hamburgers, a large order of fries and a medium drink while wearing mirrored sunglasses at 8 years old. We barely spoke ten words between us on the ride back, but we were both smiling a lot.
